Brief Profile:
Prof. Mahammad Ali is currently working as Vice Chancellor at Aliah University, Kolkata since April 13, 2018. He has been working as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Jadavpur University, Kolkata since 2008. He was awarded M.Sc. 1st class. (specialization in Inorganic Chemistry) from Burdwan University in 1986. His Ph.D. Thesis was on ‘Electron transfer kinetics of heteropolytungstocobaltate(II/III) Centered Species’ from Jadavpur University in 1991. Earlier he has worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, Vidyasagar College, Kolkata and a Reader, Department of Chemistry at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemistry, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel during 1994-1995. He has also been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of California, Santa Cruz, California, USA during 1997-1999 and also 2003-2004. He has been a Visiting Scientist at CNRS, UPR 8641, Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP), France during 2009. His Research Interests are focused on Proton Transfer and Nucleophilic Substitution Reactions of Fischer Carbene Complexes, Molecule based magnets: 3d, and 3d-4f complexes with SMM, SCM or SIM behaviour, Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis and Molecular Sensors. He has over 147 publications in the International and National Journals. He is an Editorial board member of the Central Physical Chemistry Journal (SCI and Scopus Indexed).
